Five senses-touch

As always we reviewed each sensory organ.  I have balloons filled with different things around the house.  I had two filled with water, two with rice, two with salt, two with flour, and two with mini marshmallows.  Then I placed them out in front of her, all mixed up, and she had to match them up by feeling them.

We played about six thousand times before I finally distracted her with something else.

Five Senses-smell

After working on sight, we worked on smell.

We reviewed what we use to see and talked about what we use to smell.

Then I mixed Kool-aid in with paint and let her go at it!

One of the mixtures was not so good smelling and I tossed it.  I think it was the one that comes in a blue package.

Five Senses-Sight

This month we are doing units on our five senses and Earth Day.  We also work from Starfall reading and Horizons math.

I opened the unit with signing some five senses songs and getting books on the five senses from the library.

The first activity was on sight.  We played a sight game where you place items in front of you, then close your eyes and your partner takes something away.  You have to look and see what is missing.  Goose loved this game and was really good at it.

The next day I threw some glo sticks in her tub and turned the lights off (kept the door cracked with the hall light on).  That was probably her favorite bath ever!  So much to do with the five senses!
