Tower of Babel

One of my favorite stories in the bible is the Tower of Babel.

I read the story from Goose's bible, then we watched a short film on it.  I thought at first the film might not be appropriate, as it's kinda making fun, but it's short and to the point and kinda Veggie Tale like.  So I went with it.

We ended the lesson with a craft.

Noah's Ark

We read the story of Noah's Ark and then I found a video on YouTube.

Goose loved the movie and actually sat and watched the entire thing.

After that we made a craft.  It came out pretty cute!

Cain and Abel-Plus some math!!

Yesterday we read the story of Cain and Abel.  We talked for a long time about the two of them and Goose was really interested in the story (she loves the story Adam and Eve too).

Today we made a lamb and wheat craft to symbolize the gifts Cain and Abel gave to God.  We reviewed again and Goose remembered everything we read about the day before.

One issue I am having with these old testament stories is that God is so angry and very unforgiving.  I am having a hard time knowing how to explain this when it comes up (which won't be for a long time I hope).  I don't think I even have the answer to why He was so unforgiving but now is very forgiving.



On another note, our new math program came in today.  After much research and consideration, I decided to go with Horizons math.  I feel it goes well with common core, which I use as my curriculum.  It's a good foundation and I have other workbooks already if I need to supplement.  We did the first four lessons today and she just flew through it!  It was all a review of what she knows already.  Soon enough it will cover new things and I'm sure we'll have to slow down.

Adam and Eve-preschool religion

When Goose was really little, we would read her bible stories from this book: 

It's a very nice book and the stories are really short.  Now that she's a little older, I've been using this book instead-mostly because it has more of the stories I'm looking for:



We have already read about creation, so last week we read about Adam and Eve.  After that we did an apple and snake craft.  You can find the templates for each below:

Jonah and the Whale-a whale of a craft!!

We are moving along with our ocean unit.  Today I read Goose the story of Jonah and the Whale.  We talked about how Jonah did not listen to God and tried to hide from Him.  You can never hide from God, because He can always see you!

This bible is GREAT for toddlers.  I highly recommend it to anyone with little kids.  Super cute and right to the point!

After the story and our discussion, she colored a whale with Jonah inside.
